Blizzard '06: A Delivery That Couldn't Wait
A Delivery The Storm Couldn't Stop
El Paso County
Lauri Martin
El Paso County Search and Rescue put their two snow cats to good use saving stranded drivers. But one of the rescues involved a Southern Colorado woman who had a delivery not even the weather could delay.
Highway 94 was shut down, but don't tell that to one woman who was in labor. Search and Rescue sent in a snow cat to rescue the pregnant woman out at Schriever Air Force Base. The team was up against 40 mile an hour wind gusts and white out conditions.
if (self['plpm'] && plpm['Mid-Story Ad']) document.write('');if (self['plpm'] && plpm['Mid-Story Ad']){ document.write(plpm['Mid-Story Ad']);} else { if(self['plurp'] && plurp['97']){} else {document.write(''); } }if (self['plpm'] && plpm['Mid-Story Ad']) document.write('');
The ambulance waited at Highway 94 and Mark Sheffel with chains on the tires since the conditions were simply too treacherous to travel any further. Six hours later, after Search and Rescue got the initial call, the pregnant woman finally made it to the ambulance. A Search and Rescue spokesperson said, "She's fine… a little anxious, but with weather, who wouldn't be?" Apparently, the baby was just as anxious.
No word just yet if the woman delivered her baby. Search and Rescue said the same type of situation happened a few years back. That woman named her baby, Tucker after the manufacturer of the snow cat that rescued her.
This story comes to us from KKTV Colorado Springs / Pueblo, Colorado.

Tucker Sno-Cat new delivery checks
Upon receipt of your new Tucker Sno-Cat take time to look for any fluid leaks cause by possible loose fittings or filters. The new machine is put through a 3 mile test while in final production to check systems including loose fittings and filters. The production area is 65 degrees and the machine is of course warm after its test. The machine is again checked while being loaded on to the transport truck, but if it is being delivered to a location with sub zero temperatures it is possible for fittings and filters to loosen because of contraction and expansion, so please take the time to check.

Allison electronic transmissions are equipped with an external spin-on filter. The original filter from Allison comes with a magnetic flat washer, as pictured above. Replacement filters do not include these washers so before discarding remove the washer to install in replacement filter. Please refer to you manual for filter service intervals.
